I participated in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) from 1979 thru 1987. I retired at the end of 1987. In March of 1988 I received a distribution of common stock shares in the company.

My question is about the holding period for these shares. Do I have one lot with a holding period beginning 3/88, or do I have several lots with holding periods beginning during the years of my participation?

Each December 31 I received a statement showing shares in my account, but no cost information. Upon distribution of the shares in 1988 I receivd a statement showing tax basis per share (among other things).

But no answer yet.

Any opinions will be apreciated.
