I've looked through past posts and haven't been able to find an answer to my questions, so here I am!

My husband has been working for his current company for over 17 years and has an ESOP with them. He will be 55 next May and can take early retirement. He wants to take advantage of this because this job is killing him physically and emotionally. They would not give him the money in one lump sum, it is spread evenly over 3 years. I am assuming that during the time the money is still sitting in the ESOP that he will still be accruing money. He's got a meeting set up the HR person, so I want to make sure he has his questions lined up.

I want to roll his money into an IRA account since he will need to continue working for another 10 years (we are not even close to the $$$ we need to retire comfortably). Do we need to set up three accounts, one for each year, or can one be opened and added to each year up to the full ESOP amount (the total would be over $150,000)? I understand that a 401k can't be rolled into a Roth, but can you roll an ESOP's into a Roth?

Can you think of any other questions that he should ask the HR person? I have great health coverage, so he can be covered with me until he finds another job.

Thank you in advance for your help!!!
