Excellent point. I've been running OS X on my 366MHz iBook SE with 192MB of RAM and a 6GB drive. 10.0 was definitely not fast enough, while 10.1 definitely is (I wish the drive was bigger, though).
I do believe it would be great on my daughter's Rev. B 266MHz iMac with 192 MB of RAM, except that the hard drive is only 4MB and that really isn't enough.

----------------------

i have an iMac slotload ruby cd-rom 400mhz macintosh
i've got one 256MB (paid $60, currently $30)
and one 128MB chip (paid $99, currently $20)

my harddrive is 10gigs and i've split it in half
OS9 on one partition
OS X.1 on the other

within days i will buy a windows harddrive 5400rpms
(to keep the heat down) with 20 to 40 gig capacity
i will then back up my data (not much, it's mostly in applications anyway) and take out my lil10gigger
and put in the 40g
then i will reformat the windows drive
into a macOne
and then i will partition one little area for OS9
and leave the rest for OS X.1

upgrades are possible
infact theres a step by step guide in the current macworld magazine

my older revD imac that i sold to my friend dan
he might do the $300 sonnet motherboard upgrade
which will give his USB mac some firewire ports
or
he wants to remove his trayloaderCD drive
and replace it with a cdBurner drive
but the early macs used laptop cd drives which
are slightly hard to find (high cost too)
