We have in the past discussed the inherent disadvantages of owning a private REIT. I have a relative who owns some Steadfast Apartment REIT. He recently participated in a Steadfast redemption program at 93% of the latest NAV. Unfortunately he could only redeem about 4% of his shares. Does anybody have experience with using a 3rd party market maker for these securities? Also does Schwab, Fidelity or Vanguard have any ties to assist in selling these? Thanks.
