Far better to get a certified financial advisor who charges a flat fee versus one of the Wall Street leeches.

Perhaps even better to skip the "advisor" and spend $20 on a dartboard : )
Buy equal amounts of 100 stocks from some reasonable set, the S&P 1500 or VL or something. Hold for a year or two. Repeat.
No fees to anybody, and you're all but guaranteed to beat the cap weight index over time.

Better if you overload the dartboard with the firms with the higher ROE figures.
