I would like some information on the fed midterm rates as related to a SEPP. How is this rate determined? Is the rate set on a monthly basis? I have tried to find some answers, but as of yet, no luck. Thanks
The IRS makes monthly rulings on Short-term, Mid-term and Long-term "Applicable Federal Rates" (AFRs) for making a mess of calculations used in the income tax regs - everything from your SEPP to charitable gifts. You can find the history (and grab each month's rates as released) at http://www.irs.gov/taxpros/lists/0,,id=98042,00.htmlHave a ball!Eric.
