By chance, I can make one more digest post. The plummeting water level of Lake Mead has exposed one of the reservoir's original water intake valves for the first time, officials say. Amid the West's climate change-fueled megadrought, Lake Mead -- the largest manmade reservoir in the country and a source of water for millions of people -- has fallen to an unprecedented low.The valve had been in service since 1971 but can no longer draw water, according to the Southern Nevada Water Authority, which is responsible for managing water resources for 2.2 million people in Southern Nevada, including Las Vegas. Photos taken Monday show the eldest of the agency's three intake valves high and dry above the water line.https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/27/us/water-intake-exposed-lake-...Twitter is banning misleading advertisements that go against the scientific consensus of climate change, the company announced on Friday, which was Earth Day."We believe that climate denialism shouldn't be monetized on Twitter, and that misrepresentative ads shouldn't detract from important conversations about the climate crisis," Twitter said in a blog post.https://www.cnn.com/2022/04/23/tech/twitter-climate-change-p...At first, the scientists chose a straightforward title for their research: “Marine Extinction Risk From Climate Warming.”But as publication approached, something nagged at them. Their findings illustrated two drastically different outcomes for ocean life over the next three centuries depending on whether greenhouse gas emissions were sharply curbed or continued apace. Somehow it seemed the study’s name conjured only doom.https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/28/climate/global-warming-oc...About 20 percent of reptile species risk extinction, mainly because people are taking away their habitats for agriculture, urban development and logging, according to the first global reptile assessment of its kind. From inch-long geckos to the iconic king cobra, at least 1,829 species of reptiles, including lizards, snakes, turtles and crocodiles, are threatened, the study found. The research, published Wednesday in Nature, adds another dimension to a substantial body of scientific evidence that points to a human-caused biodiversity crisis similar to climate change in the vast effect it could have on life on Earth. “It’s another drumbeat on the path to ecological catastrophe,” said Bruce Young, co-leader of the study and a senior scientist at NatureServe, a nonprofit conservation research group. Such a collapse threatens humans because healthy ecosystems provide necessities like fertile soil, pollination and water supplies.https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/27/climate/reptiles-extincti...After lighting the nation’s homes and businesses for more than a century, transforming the design of buildings and even lengthening the average workday, incandescent light bulbs are finally on their way out.The Biden administration on Tuesday adopted two new rules that set stricter energy efficiency standards for light bulbs. Those standards would effectively phase out the sale of most new incandescent bulbs — the pear-shaped orbs with glowing wire centers — in 2023.https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/26/climate/biden-incandescen...FuskieWho wishes everyone the best...-----Premium Home Fool: Ask me a Foolish Question, I'll give you a Foolish Response!Ticker Guide: The Walt Disney Company (DIS), Intuit (INTU), Live Nation (LYV), CME Group (CME), MongoDB (MDB), Trip Advisor (TRIP), Vivendi SA (VIVHY), Mimecast (MIME), Virgin Galactic (SPCE), Axon Technologies (AXON), 51Jobs (JOBS)Disclaimer: This post is non-professional and should not be construed as direct, individual or accurate adviceDisassociation: The views and statements of this post are Fuskie's and are not intended to represent those of The Motley Fool or any other sane bodyDisclosure: May own shares of some, many or all of the companies mentioned in this post: https://tinyurl.com/FuskieDisclosureFool Code of Conduct: https://www.fool.com/legal/the-motley-fools-rules.aspx#Condu...Invitation: You are invited to interactively watch Motley Fool Live online television: https://www.fool.com/premium/live/Call to Action: If you like this or any other post, Rec it.
