Finances in retirement must be taken into account, but there are other things to consider.

If my wife and I had worked until our FRA of 66:
• we would have not traveled during the school year
• we would not have hiked the high Sierras in Yosemite
• we would have not enjoyed our time together
• I would not have been able to volunteer with people and projects that I care about
• she would have had a serious spinal injury a few months after retirement
• I would have had cancer and surgery a few months after retirement

My 2¢s is that people should retire as early as they can. I do not regret one day of my retirement.
