My daughter will graduate next May and she has gotten a lot of offers from financial institutions to consolidate her student loans. This (consolidation) can also be done through the Dept of Education. My general thought is that the financial institutions must be taking a cut for themselves. Is it (as I suspect) always better to go through the Dept of Education or are some bank deals good?
