First off, even though you love him, you have to protect himself. Under no circumstances should your name end up on any of his debt. This would include any mortgage, since should his debt ever go as far as a civil suit by a collection agency you do not want to lose the house. Also, in the worst case scenario that the marriage does not work, you can not be held liable for any of his debts in the proceedings.

That said, you can not force him to deal with his financial problems. And you can not bail him out. It is possible the reason he refuses to acknowledge or deail with his situation is that he is embarrassed. All you can do is lead by example and hope he wakes up. You may want to give him a book on personal finance management, or just leave it lying around where he might see it, say in the fridge next to the beer.
