First off, it was my allowance and I did earn it. It was about $80. The FMV of the stock is now almost $700.

The good news is that even if they had it in their name and now put it in yours, it shouldn't be a gifting problem.

I'm not sure if anyone paid tax on the dividends, but I'm assuming my parents did. They were always reinvested.

Has this stock always stayed the same name ? Did anyone keep track of the reinvested dividends ?

if it was never AT&T or spinoffs, count your blessings many times over.
