Assume I have 50% of my income needs met by a state retirement plan and can meet the rest of my needs with 40% of assets in non tax sheltered fixed income investments and the remainder in IRA(regular and Roth), 457 and 403 plans devoted to stock holdings. What types of fixed income assets would be recommended-index funds or whatever? Does the overall mixture sound reasonable? Thanks for the input.
