For about the past week they have "severe heat warnings". They didn't used to issue those on average summer days (e.g. 105F), but they have been lately. Yesterday and today were/are in the hundred-teens (115-117F). At 8:33am (right now), it's 98F. We'll mostly be in that range (>105F) for a few weeks. Monsoon should start soon, which cools things off (but increases humidity by a lot).

Yes, at least one news station always seems to want to fry an egg on a sidewalk about this time of year. It cooks relatively slowly, but it does cook.

One thing you didn't mention is that the lower level of Lake Mead threatens the hydro generation from there. Non-intuitively, AZ has a lot of hydro power. If that shuts down, we have a big problem.
