From my read of the data, breakthrough infections are rising fast ...

Watch out for one big possible pitfall in the numbers.
Not saying you have fallen into it, but just passing the thought along.

Some people see that the fraction of people in hospitals or intensive care or morgues who are fully vaccinated is rising and get alarmed.
But this isn't a bad sign, it's a very good sign.
Consider: If 100% of the population were vaccinated, there would be very few people going into intensive care and croaking.
But 100% of them would have been vaccinated.
The higher the percentage of sick and dying people who were vaccinated, the better. That's because it goes along with low absolute numbers.

Yes, there are breakthrough infections.
They're rare, but rising for two reasons: more people vaccinated, and a pinch more than there were as vaccine effectiveness starts to fade a bit.
But overall, we want *all* cases and deaths to be from breakthrough infections.
