The numbers that you are using for streaming video are correct. In my experience, using MPEG2 compression, 4 Mb/s offers VHS tape quality, 6 Mb/s is appactable broadcast quality. This is a good number for VOD (Video On Demand)
DirtyDingus brings up a goot point too. Your internet connection doesn't need to be that fast. Using "Store And Forward" technology, the video program can be downloaded at any time, and at any speed.
Have you seen the latest Qwest TV commercial? Guy is checking into a small roadside motel. They don't have much, but they do offer every movie ever made, at any time. The guy checking in says " How is that Possible?"
