What do I need to know besides the following about gall bladder removal?

You'll have an IV placed in your arm (maybe your hand, likely your arm). The nurse will tell you to count backwards from 100 as she infuses a sedative. You'll get to 98. Next thing you know, you'll wake up cleanly in the recovery room, minus a no-good-very-bad meen gallbladder! And you are not even likely to have any pain at that point since you would have been covered by pain medications throughout the surgery. It's likely to be even easier than having your wisdom teeth out since it won't involve your mouth; only your midsection. You might not even have any kind of a sore throat since you'll be intubated for such a short time - and the anesthesiologists are moving towards techniques for shorter surgeries (of which a lap chole is one) that don't even involve true intubation where the tube goes all the way into the throat, so you may not even have ANY sore throat. All the better for getting you back on track for eating again. ....

The X needs his out and has no clue what to expect.
xraymd - he is on heavy duty dosage of warfarin - how big of a complication is that? what kind of real recovery time are we looking at?

station9 - they gave you oxycodone you said - did you need it? he takes those almost daily (has hydromorphone on hand for when those don't do the trick) so there is a tolerance for pain meds...

peace & procedures
