I tried making gel candles this week. They were a lot of fun, and fairly similar to wax candles except :

1) Gel dries REALLY fast. Example: I'm pouring one candle, then another, and by the time I'm done pouring (maybe 10 seconds,) the gel on the side of the pitcher has dried entirely.

2) Clean-up is a lot easier, because you can just peel the excess off, instead of having to melt it away like the wax.
