Germany has decided to phase out all of its nuclear reactors over the next 11 years. That's a bit more than 3 every 2 years (it has 17).

At a minimum, this should provide a good test of solar vs. nuclear. The solar would work better using PVThermal panels which allow harvesting of the heat also. The extra cost is low, and collection can go over 70% efficient. Low temperature heat can prewarm domestic hot water, warm a building, provide for seasonal heat storage, etc. Seasonal heat storage is working out well, one contractor in Fairbanks Alaska built a house that is heated ONLY by solar, using that.
