Title of Huffpost article: Trey Radel, Busted On Cocaine Charge, Voted For Drug Testing Food Stamp Recipients. It's an example of GOP hypocrisy that reminds me of the Colorado senators that nixed aid for Sandi victims; however, when their own CO ox got gored by floods and fires, they set a speed record in appealing to the Obama administration for federal aid.

Over the summer, HOR approved an amendment by No. Car. GOP Rep. Richard Hudson to let states drug test people on SNAP. The amendment passed by voice vote. Radel later voted in favor of a broader food stamps bill that included Hudson's measure.

Most testing of stamp recipient legislation was authored by Repubs. Dems suggested lawmakers should be subject to tests, too. If the government's going to make sure recipients of taxpayer-funded benefits are clean, then why not ensure the recipients of taxpayer salaries are also clean? In June, Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) made that suggestion when he questioned why recipients of crop insurance and other government benefits weren't also targeted for drug tests like people on food stamps.

"Why don't we drug test all the members of Congress here," McGovern said shortly before the drug-testing measure passed. "Force everybody to urinate in a cup....see whether or not anybody is on drugs? Maybe that will explain why some amendments and votes are turning out the way they are."

Yes, Mr. McGovern, the way that the fringiest Right vote and think suggests that possibility. But isn't a more likely reason the fact that these ganders like the geese they have relentlessly--and largely futilely-- targeted to be downtrodden and to be kept that way?
