As to this: " I equate the S&P 500 index to value and NASDAQ to growth..."

Well, I think the NASDAQ comes closer to representing "growth" than the S&P 500 representing "value"....but that's just a quibble.

The one thing that I would add to your last sentence..."If you buy at a top it will take a long time to get even, longer on NASDQ than on the S&P 500, but with dollar cost averaging growth beats value.".... is that the math may be right regarding growth "beating" value....but that "beat" may be less significant for some, due to their specific financial circumstances, goals and risk tolerances.

Gotta be able sleep at night. ;-)
