Greetings dannyyang,
Our question is for our Roth IRA's: is it better to put all $4000 in at the beginning of January into an index fund, or slowly fill the $4000 over a period of 12 months? Not sure what the historical record shows about this, so just wondering if anyone out there has looked into this.

You may want to look over the index funds board FAQ:

To answer your question, it is generally considered better to invest in January and get your money working for you.
