Greetings, Janafranklin, and welcome. You wrote:

<<I take great offense at the article you posted yesterday and the comments regarding the issues and the candidates being the same. Call me old-fashioned, call me a FOOL, but I think articles like yours and just the attitude and cynicism they portray are part of the downfall of this country. I will not tell you which candidate I voted for, only that I live in Florida and realize, today, for the first time in my life of being old enough to vote, that my vote "will" count, along with all the others who went to the polls in Florida yesterday, as never before! It does matter whether or not you listen to the candidates, at every level, and then exercize your right as a citizen of this great United States to go out and cast your ballot. In your reckless, selfish disregard for this right, watch what you wish for - it might come true! >>

I'm sorry you were offended by the column that was published on Monday. I'm also sorry you missed the fact that it was written with a tongue planted firmly in my cheek, and with a heavy dose of sarcasm when it came to pointing our the "similarities" between the major candidates. You obviously missed the very point of the article -- that there were indeed major differences between the two, and that everyone eligible needed to exercise their right to be heard at the polling places across this great land. I'm glad you did so, just as I'm glad that I and many others did as well. If that's a selfish and reckless disregard on my part, then I sincerely hope I'm around for many more elections to exhibit that selfishness and disregard for the finer things this nation has to offer.
