My suggestion would be to use the black and the white for a plain neck, mostly in black with a white pattern, without the cabling. I don't think this would work with a turtleneck... Then go back to the cuffs and overstitch the pattern in black onto the cuffs. If you are really a glutton for punishment, repeat the pattern on the bottom of the sweater also. I think it would look nice.

You could probably find some nice patterns for the neck pattern and overstitching in a cross-stitch book.
