Greetings, Slev13, I don't post there but do know of a board on the Fool: Paying for College

where it appears that many of the issues you raise may possibly be answered by the knowledgeable posters there as well as here. Discussions arise about other types of tax breaks (I know of the Hope and the Lifetime Learning credits but am not sure which may apply in your wife's situation). In any case, if you were not aware of this board, it may prove to be a worthwhile avenue towards her goals.
