As far as my bills and account balances were concerned, they did take my word for it. The court also didn't accept many expenses as being legitimate (work-related expenses, clothing costs, etc.). If any of your expenses are beyond the bare minimums it could be contested by your creditors.

They did require me to bring in my W2's for the last couple of years to verify income.
