>>NG is expected to peak globally by the middle of the next decade by many.

Who says that, and do you think they know enough to back it up?

>>the U.S. has very little LNG capacity and building more is going to by tricky because of the metamorphosis of the NIMBY principle to the BANANA principal. I am referring, of course, to the evolution of Not In My Back Yard (NIMBY) principal to the Build Absolutely Nothing At all Near Anything (BANANA).

That may be true of Yankees and Californians, but is not of Texas, Louisiana, and out-of-the way places like Newfoundland. I'm in Texas and can testify there is a general willingness to install LNG terminals in our state. Three or four LNG terminals could make a major difference in supply availability for the whole country. The commodity feeds right into our NG pipeline system which is well developed. And that's just about the number which it appears will get permitted and built.

No, it doesn't plug into the liquid fuel business but it feeds into the NG infrastructure. Its role would be to displace coal, oil, and uranium for those installations which could use it, and that in turn would free up liquid fuel supplies for vehicles.

In any event I think we are looking at BTU quantity many times what solar or wind energy could add to any country's portfolio. LNG is old hat, dull, boring which is the reason why I think it will dominate in the next decade (implicitly I am saying its peak is farther off than you think).
