GWP: I don't have a clue when interest rates will rise, but they will.
I agree. But I'd also note that people have been saying that for 20 years. And when (if) it happens, investors in bond funds will probably be hurt worse than holders of individual bonds, who can buy knowing what their YTM is, assuming they can hold to maturity.

The frustrating thing about holding individual bonds these last few years is how frequently the good ones have been called early, when the issuers found better terms to refinance.
