One thing that puzzles me is all the reports of high consumer debt, low savings rate and declining "happiness" index. Are Fools the only people in America that are trying to avoid debt? Are we the only ones that have any savings?

Most of all, what is it with this "Happiness Index"? Am I the only person in America that thanks his lucky stars each day to wake up with a roof over my head, food in the refrigerator and too many interesting things to do in one day? What does it take to be happy?
