Has any one considered the effect that Howard leaving K-Rock and Infinty would have on revenue especilly if he stays in radio at a competing outlet?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. At "Infinity Radio" Stern might have made a material difference. At CBS Corp. the effect would have been small. At Viacom, the effect of his departure would be almost invisible, at least in a financial profit/loss sense.

That said, Mel has shown quite a willingness to "pay up" if the programming justifies the expense. He has come to the table with large dollars to get sports rights (even pre-dating his time with CBS), for instance, and he clearly understands the value of "talent" in the scheme of things.

If Stern's demands are too high, Mel will pass. If they're within the realm of "reasonable", he'll pay. (On most talent issues in "radio", I'd suspect he wouldn't be heavily involved, but in this one, owing to his history with Howard, I'm sure he will be.)
