He seem to imply even a $1 copay would have kept him from going to the ER. So it isn't all about the money since the Tylenol costs more out of pocket.

I read it as something like, "I'm angry that I'm out of work. My medical costs are being paid by someone else. That goes against the grain of the anti-socialist blather that I typically spout. I don't like feeling guilty about that. Therefore, I blame the stupid government for their lack of forcing me to behave like I've always spouted about responsible people behaving."
