My 88 year old parent lives with me. I am not married and want to know if I can claim head of household. The only part of the head of household status I do not understand is the qualifying parent rule. She does get social security ($700) and a pension of about $500 per
month. I do pay more than 1/2 of household expenses. I don't believe I can or want to claim her as a dependent but the tax laws are not very clear on the head of household matter. If you need more info just ask. Thanks so much.
