Are there any insurance products that protect against financially catastrophic health events, but that aren't a standard health plan?

I'm a small business owner, so I'm acutely aware of what I pay for health insurance. I also rarely go to a hospital. Even on the highest deductible plan there is, I feel like I'm paying for more product than I want. Does such a bare-bones policy not exist?

Why is it I can buy life insurance for $250K at $25/month, but I have to spend a minimum of $250/month to protect against medical bills? The numbers seem out of whack to me.
