Hello lilbear and welcome to the Motley Fool!

You write:

<<I'd like to do some drp investing, because I am A)really lazy and B)really cheap.

I like the idea of picking a stock and then getting the dividend notice in the mail every few months that allows me to decide if I want to up the ante in the invetment. And I REALLY like the idea of dodging a broker fee. (I TOLD you I was cheap!) But I don't know exactly the easiest CHEAPEST way to get started with some of the stocks I've picked out. Anyone got any ideas as far as online services, what you ask them for etc. Does every online investment service buy automatically set up to do drps? Do you have to ask for something special? (I'm also ignorant)>>

Cheap, lazy, ignorant? No matter -- there are investing approaches for all life forms. : )

I think you areconfusing DRIP investing and reinvesting your dividends. Most online brokers will reinvest your dividends if they hold your stock -- but not all.

Sounds like the cheapest and easiest thing would be to enroll in a service like the Moneypaper whereby you purchase one share of stock through them and then reinvest the dividends. When you want to buy more shares, there is either no-fee or a low fee to do so. To learn more about that, visit our DRIP Investing area at:

http://www.fool.com/DRIPPort/HowToInvestDRIPs.htm

and our DRIP message board which is located right here in the "Investor's Roundtable" area.

You can also invest directly in some companies which would lower your expenses even more ... but that would be more work on your part, so perhaps you'd like to pass. Info on that can be found at:

Hope this helps!
