I've spent most of a slow afternoon reading the back posts here, and I'm very impressed with all the things people do. I tend to be rather klutzy myself. Paint spatters, stitches go awry, glue goes everywhere.

That said, I cross-stitch, have done some small beading projects, and am currently working on a double-size afghan - it's a wedding present, and I wanted it large enough for the two of them to snuggle under. It's done on a afghan hook - does anyone else here use one?

For cross-stitch I generally prefer the Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum patterns. No one seems to have mentioned her, but I love her work. Here's a link:

My current project (now on hold until the afghan is finished) is this one:

and I just finished this one a couple of months ago. It still needs to be framed, and will be given as a Christmas present next year:

However, the most ambitious project to date was this one:

Beads, suede, fluffy yarns etc. But it worked up beautifully, and I gave it to a niece a couple of years ago.

By the way, I'm curious - did the group quilt ever get made? There was a lot of talk about it, and then the subject was dropped. Also, Rav mentioned Keepsake Quilting - I took some friends to visit the store last year, and they were stunned. Tons of fabric, patterns, books, suggestions, help, and anything else you could ask for, including other craft projects. They also had Christmas cards, paper, etc. If you're ever up in the lake country of New Hampshire, try to stop in. They have a map by the door, and if you ask the staff for a pin, you can insert it at your home town. (Also, my old college dorm is now the restaurant next door - I picked a college that went out of business).

Greetings!

Welcome!

"That said, I cross-stitch, have done some small beading projects, and am currently working on a double-size afghan - it's a wedding present, and I wanted it large enough for the two of them to snuggle under. It's done on a afghan hook - does anyone else here use one?"

I have used an afghan hook, doing the afghan stitch, to make afghans... aggh - what a compilation... I have even used the absolutely huge one to do a broomstick lace afghan (that didn't turn out too well)

Currently doing a cross stitch picture of three horses running in surf (with way too many confetti stitches), and have a beading project in the wings.
