Hello wolfwomanand welcome to the Women and Investing folder! : )

<<I can't believe that this board only now just got set up. As a woman who has a relatively large
portfolio, and who over the years got constantly stung by brokers, I finally decided in 1994 to take over myself, with the notion that if my money was going to be lost, it would be me who would lose it, not brokers. So far, I have done pretty well, though learning and making mistakes has been tough. I don't know about others, but taking care of my money scares the s out of me, even though I do it.>>

I think it scares everyone, male and female. One day you wake up and recognize you no longer have your parents to fall back on if you get into trouble -- or worse yet, your parents begin falling back on YOU! Now that's a wake up call.

<<I have decided to get out of the mutual funds I was in following a
newsletter, so now I am completely on my own and would welcome advice, support, and
whatever I can bring to the table. Hope we get more people in on this.>>

This is just the beginning. Please feel free to post any questions, or share any mistakes you have made or advice you can give.

We are all in this together. : )
