DH and I will be traveling through PA from the NY area to the OH border in a couple of weeks; going to travel I-78 to the turnpike and then west. Any suggestions for food stops, antique shopping, etc on that route? Thanks!
Try the Lancaster area, not far off the toll road. All kinds of antique shops there: http://www.antiquescapital.com/Richard
Bethlehem PA has some nice bits in it, but it is probably to close to the start of your trip to stop in. You will be in PA for under a half hour when you hit it. People commute from Bethlehem to NYC. Hellish commute as 78 jams like crazy in rush hour but it can be done. If you have a young one with you there is the Crayola place in Easton.Since 78 merges with 81 and hits the turnpike around Harrisburg Lancaster may be a bit out of your way. But as Twitty said, it can be fun.You may want to look into Hershey PA. They have a big park there, but also have a lot of other stuff. Good place to stop if you like chocolate.Ford
