I think that the challenge with Deep Value companies, and even Value based investing, is that individual companies can look bad for quite some time before they look good.

A lot of companies that were having problems dissolved during the "great recession". Since then the rising economy has made it harder to find great Deep Value companies.

But, whether you choose to invest in any of the MDP DV recommendations or not, there is a great learning opportunity here. Ron Gross has put together some very detailed company analysis. He is very responsive to member questions. There is now a watch list board. The analysis of these companies provides some great insight into what might be a deep value company, but is not yet a compelling investment opportunity. You can find the Stock Watch board here --
