Please allow me to introduce myself... well, actually my DF. I don't have diabetes, but he does -- just diagnosed with Type 2 in October, 2002 (also high blood pressure and high cholesterol was diagnosed at the same time). I think he is in a major state of denial. He hasn't changed his eating habits; he doesn't exercise; I have to force him to take his blood sugar reading; he won't read any of the probably 8 - 10 books I have brought home about diabetes... I don't know what to do. He goes back to the doctor on Monday, and given the readings he's been having and the fact that to me he actually looks like he's put weight ON to an already overweight frame... I think the doctor is going to rip him a new one. I am overweight myself, and have been my entire adult life, so believe me I know how tough it is to stick to a regular eating plan, and I am not just trying to beat him up about it. I don't want to turn into a nag, but I really worry about how I can best help him. Any ideas are welcome.

Also, FuskieFool -- did you think about maybe posting the link to this on some other boards. I don't know how, or I would help, but maybe LBYM, PetLovers, FoolsFightingFat, and some others might generate some interest. Just a thought.

While my DF, one of my brothers and a BIL all have diabetes, I really don't know much about it, or the right ways to control it, and am looking forward to chatting with others who are on the same road we are.
