Hi everybody,

Thank you very much for all the replies. Sorry for the confusion - I don't have a loan or withdrawal on the 401K. Its free and clear.

The house was refinanced to payoff the home equity and the bank left zero balance HE open.

Actual debt (other than the house) is 8K on a credit card and YES it will never be used again.

After getting rid of a $200 / month cell phone bill kids) we can breathe a little.

I heard gold might increase to 5K or more /oz in the next couple of years and CEF would be a good gold/silver stock so it seeemed like a good idea to buy as much as posible even if using the HE or maybe 401K money to help invest.

No car lease or payment.

Yes, it was buy gold, not by gold.

The 401K people said either a 41K loan or 11K hardship withdrawal could be made.

I guess the thing to do is payout the card but that means no cash for gold.
