I do keep records currently, much like you describe. I want to have them literally at my fingertips, since I drive older cars (mine & DH's) & there are a lot of maint. & repairs going on. When I'm at the shop, I often get asked "when was the last time you..." or I think to myself, didn't we just do ...? But it may have been the *other* car, and it may have been 6-8 months ago, so I may not have a perfect memory of what actually was. And while I have Trusted Mechanic, he is 25 mi south of here, so now I am developing a relationship with a shop in town, they seem pretty good, but now neither service providers don'has the full picture of what has been done, either. Life is getting complicated!
