Hip Hop is not the same as gangsta rap. Hip Hop is a lot of different things. Ice T and his ilk who commercialize on the gold chain pimp stuff are cashing in on America's fears of gangs. People like him are primarily actors, who sometimes sing, but with very little actual talent. They are making money on a phoney hyped up "hip hop" image. But I think true hip hop is a cultural movement which stands mostly for peace and tolerance but also for speaking your mind and speaking the truth. The hip hop dancers that I know are young kids who are very idealistic, not amoral gangster pimps. Sounds like an interesting Smithsonian exhibit. Better than dinosaur bones?
