Hmmm. Another reason not to lease.

At least twice in the article we see something like:

"It's a terrible shame, because it's the best zero emissions vehicle out there, and they were first to market with the technology," says Knapp from the California ZEV Alliance.

I agree it's a shame, but I certainly don't agree that the EV1s were zero emission cars. I suspect that the Honda and Toyota hybrid cars are actually as clean or cleaner when you factor in all the crud that a coal burning power plant emits to recharge the "zero emission" EV1. I won't even address nukes.

It's probably also true that California messed up initially when they specified HOW to meet emission standards rather that setting the standards and seeing what happened (they've done that now).

Anyway, it is a shame.
