I think that I have finally learned to hold on to my investments and let them grow.  A very painful lesson:  I bought 100 shares of BIDU at 127.19 on May 11, 2007.  I sold at 182.12 on July 23, 2007.  In I bought 75 shares at 184.8 and sold them on 7/26 for $204.84 for a total net gain of $6,964.83 vs $19,556 that I would have made had I held on.  From now on, I am taking the advice of Motley Fool!!!  HOLD!
