So, I decided to make some Homemade Kahlua the other night and went off searchin' fer sum recipes. Most of them were very similar and I settled on this one;

6 c. Sugar
6 c. Water
20 tsp. Instant Coffee
½ Gal. Vodka
12 tsp. Vanilla (Or 2 Vanilla Beans Cut in Half)

Mix Sugar, Water, Coffee together and bring to slow boil. Turn heat down and simmer 1 hour. Remove heat, cover liquid with plastic wrap.

Let sit for 12 hours, then remove wrap (It will pick up film from the top.). Add Vodka and Vanilla, stir well.

If Vanilla beans are used, the Kahlua should sit for at least four weeks before consuming.

Now, since I didn't quite want that much, I split the recipe in half. And, that made just a little over ½ gal.

It is quite tasty, and better than store-bought even, but I think I will change a few things next time since it was a tad bit too sweet and not strong enough Coffee flavor...for me anyway.

For half the recipe, I will use;

2 ½ c. Sugar
2 ½ c. Water
13 tsp. Instant Coffee
1 Lt. Vodka
6 tsp. Vanilla (Or 1 Vanilla Bean Cut in Half)
