I live 7 kms (less than 5 miles) from work and I only have to use my signal lights 3 times from when I enter traffic from a backalley to where I turn off the street to enter the parking lot at work. It takes me 10 minutes to drive to work through residential streets, during lunch hour! And this is in a city of 900,000 people.

My best friend, who is a bank manager, leaves for work two hours before he starts at 9 am to beat the traffic downtown. It still takes him 30 minutes to travel 20 km (12 miles) on roads that vary between 60 and 90 km/hr (35 - 55 MPH). Even at 7 am, the traffic is heavy heading into downtown Calgary.

I think I've got him beat, as far as commuting goes.

P.S. how long does it take you to drive how long into work?
