How Exciting for the two of you!

Personally, I would omit the granite and spend a little extra for Quarts, Marble or a savvy formica. There is a home depreciation with granite because of construction and chemicals involved with the very stone's harvesting stability. And there are soooo many other beautiful options.
Marble (get a professional that preps & treats material properly)& quartz are beautifully savvy, regal & timeless;formica too, has improved tremendously in color, design style & practical. You have more options than you think... And you will be enjoying this kitchen for many years to come so choose something you absolutely love.
Your home is your castle! Don't settle. Take a little extra time... It's totally worth it! besides you also learn more about each other's tastes before tying the true love knot as well.
Kitchen wood work simple & elegant a Benjamin Moore Super White semi or gloss goes with all colors, encourages more light & the contrast is stunning.
