Perhaps this is the better place to ask about how to remove 401k monies. We had felt that upon retirement we should transfer everything into an IRA. We cannot keep money in the 401k plan at our company once we retire. However, about two months ago, Consuelo Mack on her Sunday morning show had an interview in which the expert being queried stated NOT to put all of the 401k funds into IRAS as this was not tax efficient.. Instead, he suggested taking part of it out and putting it into regular accounts and putting the remainder into an IRA. However, we did not hear the main part of the interview and need more information regarding the whys and wherefors of this thinking. We certainly don't want to pay more taxes than would be necessary on the 401ks. Could someone help direct us to the information we need?
