Howie, I own 4-5 MLP's and although the income is wonderful, I noticed the CPA charges extra for the paperwork with the K1's. I haven't done my taxes since I used a simple form in the 70's. I wouldn't dare touch them now, way too much to keep up with

In the 80's I stopped doing my taxes myself. I used a CPA for a few years, and watched him type all my numbers into a computer program. I said to myself, "Self, you have a desktop computer just like his, and you can type the numbers into a program just like he can."

Next year I grabbed a copy of TurboTax (or maybe one of the other similar programs) and did it myself. And been doing it that way ever since.

It always irked me that I did all the time consuming work anyway, gathering all the figures together, and he just typed in the numbers that I gave him.

TurboTax handles K-1's just fine. Takes me maybe 5 minutes per K-1. Would take less if I downloaded the K-1's and let TurboTax import them.
