I agree that you should not make any radical decisions or changes while you are still in mourning. That said, since you mentioned that you enjoy tutoring ....

Your profile says you are in Burlington, VT. Apply to be a paraprofessional (teacher's aide) at one of your local schools (https://bsdvt.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx) -- they are looking for summer school hires if you decided to take a leave of absence from your "real" job. There appear to be a number of private schools in your area if you prefer. Once you understand more about your local schools, this group sounds as though it is doing things: http://partnershipvt.org/.

Burlington is pretty close to the capital -- find a legislator who you think is good and volunteer/apply to be on his/her staff or campaign committee.

The University of Vermont is right there -- perhaps it's time for a different degree. Get some kind of job there (https://www.uvmjobs.com/postings/search?page=1) and take classes for free (https://www.uvm.edu/sites/default/files/Human-Resource-Servi..., page 16). Among other things, they are looking for an assistant ski coach!

You are fortunate to have had a father you respect so much. I am sorry for your loss.
