I agree with eudaimon and TMFTwitty, safety fist and get them checked. You spoke of getting a new car in a "year or two". That is way to long to be uncomfortable driving your car, and way too long to be in a potentially unsafe car.
If you fix it now you might get two more good years out of your tire purchase.
If you wait, you will only get one.
